Blending cowlicks got smoother once I let the hair guide the cut

I was always wrestling with cowlicks during fades... they never looked seamless. Saw an older barber just go with the hair's flow instead of against it... tried it on the next haircut. The difference was night and day... now it's my go-to method for tricky textures. Funny how a small change in approach can fix a big problem...

Isn't it crazy how fighting the hair just makes everything worse? I had the exact same issue for years, leaving these little patches that never laid flat no matter how much I cut. One time I butchered a guy's temple because I was so determined to force the hair to go the opposite way. Finally watched a guy who really knew his stuff, and he did exactly what you said, just let the cowlick show him where to cut. Tried it myself and felt like an idiot for all the time I spent doing it the hard way. It seems so simple once you see it working.
