Had a kid flinch so hard I nicked his ear with my trimmers

It was a slow Tuesday at my shop in Austin, and I was cleaning up around a 7-year-old's ears. He jerked his head when his mom's phone rang, and I felt the trimmer catch skin. I kept calm, put a bit of pressure on it with a clean towel, and told his mom it was a small scratch. It stopped in a minute, and I finished the cut for free. What's your go-to move when a client moves at the worst time?

Hold my breath and wait for them to settle.

Used to be the opposite honestly. Always thought you should jump right in and get it over with, but after a few times where I rushed it and ended up with a real mess on my hands... yeah that changed my mind quick. Last year I was doing a bathroom reno for a customer and got impatient with the tile layout, just ran with it. Had to tear out three rows because I didn't let things settle in my head first. Cost me a full day and made the job look sloppy. Waiting it out feels like wasting time but it saves you in the long run.
