Hit 1,000 straight razor shaves last Friday and it caught me off guard
I started keeping a tally on my phone just for fun back in January. When I finally hit that number, I realized how much my technique had changed without me noticing. I did a full 30 minute shave on a guy named Tom at the shop in Wichita and he didn't even need a single touch up. Anybody else keep track of something random like this?

Never thought I'd care about counting shaves but watching that number climb changed how i see the whole thing. I figured a tally was just for show but now i get why keeping track helps you notice small improvements over time. Might actually start tracking my own practice just to see where im at.

Tom at the shop in Wichita was probably just being polite, @gavin_kim3. Keeping a tally feels like inventing work where there isn't any. I mean, did you really need a phone counter to tell you that practice makes your hands better? All that extra tracking just clutters your head with numbers instead of focusing on the actual shave. I've never counted a single one of my shaves and my clients are just as happy.
