Seeing barbers juggle clients without breaks worries me about burnout
I was getting a haircut the other day and my barber was talking about how back-to-back appointments leave no time for a breather. He said many shops are so busy that barbers just power through. From my tree service, I know that taking short breaks prevents mistakes and keeps you sharp. I told him about setting a timer for five minutes between clients to stretch or just sit. He tried it and felt less drained by the end of the day. It's not about losing business, but about sustaining it long-term. Maybe if more barbers shared how they handle busy times, we could all learn better habits. It's something small that can make a big impact on how you feel.

Have you talked to the shop owner about scheduling gaps? When I managed a busy shop, we added 10-minute buffers between cuts for cleanup and a breather. Clients don't mind if it means better service, and it cuts down on rushed mistakes. It's a simple fix that keeps barbers from hitting a wall by midday. Most regulars appreciate the consistency when you're not frazzled.

My barber told me buffers save time, just like @riley_jones said.
