Spent forever fixing a trimmers tension knob, turned out to be dirt

I had this older Wahl that kept losing power mid-cut, and I figured the motor was finally giving out. I had it apart probably five or six times over a weekend, checking the internals and even ordering a replacement part online. Finally on Sunday night, I noticed a little buildup of hair and dust wedged into the tension spring. Just blew it out with compressed air and it worked perfect, like brand new. I mean, I felt pretty dumb for the whole two days I spent on it. Has anyone else had a simple fix that took them way too long to find on clippers or trimmers?
