Got banned from a coupon forum for calling out a fake deal and lost $80
I was in a coupon sharing group on Reddit and saw this amazing deal on a vacuum. It said 80 bucks off retail and I jumped on it without checking the fine print. Turns out the store had jacked up the original price to make the discount look real and I ended up paying more than retail. When I called the poster out for shilling, the mods banned me for 'negative behavior' and now I'm out $80 with a crappy vacuum. Has anyone else been burned by fake coupon deals in those groups?

Maybe it's just me but I feel like coupon groups are basically gambling with bad odds. I once bought a "premium" slow cooker from a deal someone posted, turned out it was a knockoff that couldn't even keep soup warm. The mods defended the poster because they were a "verified member", which just meant they posted a lot of bad deals. $80 for a vacuum that barely beats a broom sounds like a lesson we both paid tuition for. At least mine was only $40 and I use it as a doorstop now.

Did you check the return policy before you bought it? I bought a so-called "premium" blender from a deal site once and it sounded like a lawnmower trying to escape. I learned to always look up the product's normal price on a separate site before I hand over any money.
