Got banned from a Facebook group in Tulsa for saying a cheap sous vide works as good as a $400 one, and I am still not sure if I was wrong
So I posted a photo of a pork loin I did at 145 degrees for 3 hours in my $60 sous vide, and said straight up it came out as good as my buddy's $400 one. Got about 40 comments in an hour, half of them telling me I was ruining the hobby, and then a mod booted me for "trolling." I wasn't trolling, I just don't think a heating element and a little propeller care how much you paid. A guy in the thread said I clearly never tried a real one, which is funny because I cooked in his kitchen last summer. Am I crazy here or does the price tag really change the food that much?
