Got banned from a local gardening forum for saying I used Roundup on poison ivy
After 7 years on that forum and hundreds of helpful posts about composting, one comment about killing weeds with herbicide got me permanently blocked with no warning, and I'm wondering if anyone else has been booted from a niche community over a single honest opinion?

oh man that sucks. i got banned from a car detailing forum once for saying i used dish soap to strip wax off a car before a paint correction. some people just take their hobbies way too seriously. honestly its probably for the best, you don't want to be in a community that can't handle a different opinion on weed killer.

Dish soap is a classic move though, everyone knows that! Those detailing forums can be brutal, I once mentioned using a hairdryer to help peel off old decals and got lectured for like three pages about proper heat guns. At least you're not stuck in a place that bans people for basic chemistry, right?
