Reminds me of how many hobby groups get taken over by a certain type of person. They turn a fun, casual thing into a set of strict rules you have to follow. It stops being about sharing what you love and starts being about who's the most "correct.

I get what you're saying but I think it's more about gatekeeping than just being strict. Sometimes people get way too protective over their hobby and forget that everyone starts somewhere. The real problem is when someone decides there's only one right way to enjoy something.
