Got permabanned from a woodworking forum at exactly 500 posts, and the number is the weird part
I hit 500 posts on a woodworking forum two weeks ago and got banned the same day. The mods said I was "posting too much" and flagged it as spam behavior, even though I mostly just answered finish questions for new people. The ban message actually listed my post count like it was evidence. I asked a buddy who mods a different forum and he said some places auto flag accounts that cross a set number in under 90 days. Did anyone else get popped for a post count or some other stat that looked sus to a bot?
500 posts in under 90 days is not that wild though. I was on a fishing board where a guy got auto flagged for posting 40 times in one day during a tournament thread. The bot just sees numbers, it does not read the posts. That is the real problem here. You were answering finish questions, which is the exact thing that keeps new people around, and the system punished you for it. So yeah, the post count was the trigger, but I would push back on the idea that hitting some magic number means you did something wrong.
