Hot take: Got banned from a mom group for debating safe sleep vs. SIDS research
I posted in a local parenting group about how I let my 7-month-old nap in a dock-a-toy once because she wouldn't settle otherwise. Another mom jumped in saying I was endangering my baby and reported me to the mods. I tried to explain I read the AAP guidelines but also a study about parental burnout leading to worse outcomes, and they gave me a 7-day ban. Debate: are we too strict with safe sleep rules, or am I the one in the wrong? Has anyone else gotten kicked out of a parenting space for a hot take like this?

A 7-day ban for using a damn dock-a-toy one time? That's nuts. People act like babies are made of glass or something. You can follow every rule to the letter and still end up with a sleep-deprived mess. I've seen moms get ripped apart for less, it's like safe sleep is their whole personality.

omg yes this!! I had almost the exact same thing happen. My 9 month old had a cold and would NOT sleep anywhere but my chest for like three days straight and I was literally hallucinating from exhaustion. I finally let her nap in the boppy lounger while I sat right there watching her and someone in my bumpers group screenshot my post and reported me. Got a week ban and a lecture about "modeling safe sleep for other moms" like I was trying to start a trend or something. I feel like the people who enforce these rules the hardest have never had a baby who just refuses to sleep any other way.
