Just realized my birding group's old private forum got wiped for 'harassment'
Ran a small birding meetup near Tampa for about 4 years. We had a private Facebook group, 60 people. Someone posted a blurry photo of a hawk they swore was a rare sighting. I corrected it politely with links. Admin called it harassment and nuked the whole group. No warning, no appeal. Now I just use a group text with 12 core members. Has anyone else lost an entire community over one small disagreement?
The part that gets me is the admin just nuked four years of posts, photos, meetup plans, all of it, over one back and forth about a hawk ID. That's not moderation, that's a tantrum. What did the other 58 people do to deserve losing the whole group? My question is whether the admin was the one who posted the blurry photo, because that would explain a lot about why the correction stung so bad.
