Mods nuked my post for mentioning a rival subreddit's name

Tbh I got banned from a local hobby group on Reddit last Tuesday for dropping the name of a different sub that had a tutorial I liked. The rule said no cross-promotion, but I wasn't promoting anything, just referencing a video. I messaged the mods twice, and they kept saying it's to prevent brigading, but my post had 40 upvotes in 10 minutes before it vanished. Has anyone else been axed for a rule that reads one way but gets enforced another way?

Honestly, the mods probably had their reasons. Cross-linking subs is how drama starts, even when you don't mean it. One "here's a cool video" post turns into fifty people from your sub going over there to argue, and next thing you know it's a whole war. Your 40 upvotes in 10 minutes might've actually been the problem, that's exactly the kind of traffic spike that looks like a raid. Better to just screenshot the tutorial next time and skip the name drop.
