My art teacher banned me from using the airbrush booth after I kept over-spraying
She told me I was holding the gun too close and at the wrong angle, so I backed off to about 8 inches and tilted it 45 degrees. Now my layers come out even and I haven't had a single complaint since. Anyone else get that kind of specific feedback that clicked instantly?

Paul's right about teachers not showing you what to fix. I read that airbrush distance is key.

Oh man, that sucks. I hate it when teachers just say "you're doing it wrong" without showing you exactly what to fix. Good on you for figuring it out though. Eight inches and 45 degrees is pretty standard for most airbrush work. Sounds like your teacher wasn't explaining it right in the first place. Glad you found the sweet spot and got it working.
