Pro tip: never argue with a mod in a Facebook gardening group about native plants

Got banned from a 50,000 member gardening group after I pointed out that their 'kill all invasives' post was wrong about butterfly bush, and now I can't even see the group's name in search results anymore - has anyone else been permabanned for correcting bad info in a niche hobby group?

Oh yeah, "kill all invasives" is basically a cult in some of those groups. I got permabanned from a bonsai forum for saying that junipers need winter dormancy, not constant indoor care. They took it as a personal attack on the mod's favorite technique, and now I can't even lurk there anymore. It's wild how protective folks get over bad info, especially when they've been repeating it for years.

Man, I feel you on that. Getting permabanned for just speaking the truth about something like winter dormancy is just plain ridiculous. I've seen that same "kill all invasives" cult mentality in gardening groups where people get weirdly defensive about their go-to methods, even when they're dead wrong. It is wild how some folks can't handle a simple correction without treating it like you insulted their whole family. Makes you wonder if they'd rather just keep killing their plants than admit they learned something the wrong way. Have you found any better bonsai communities since then?
