So I got kicked out of a hiking forum for sharing my balcony plants
Man, I still can't believe it. I was active in that hiking forum for like six months. Posted about my balcony garden calling it a nature fix, and poof, I'm out with no warning. Do mods really ax people for that? What should I do, just move on?

Are their rules actually that picky about staying on topic? Some forums get weirdly strict about what counts as "hiking.

Oh man, @jamieclark, you have no idea. I got a warning once because I called a walk on a paved city trail with a tiny hill a "hike". They said it needed "real elevation gain and unpaved terrain". Another time someone's post got locked for asking about good boots, because "gear talk belongs in the gear subforum". It's like they have a secret checklist and if you miss one point, the mods appear out of nowhere. Honestly, it feels less like a community and more like getting graded on your outdoor activities.

Right? @jamieclark, it's that grading feeling that gets me. My friend posted a photo from a local park trail and called it a "summit view." A mod jumped in to "correct" them that it was just a "vista point" since it wasn't on a named mountain. Who even decides that stuff? It sucks the fun right out of sharing a nice day outside.
