Spent $300 on a VPN to read blocked news, now I'm locked out of my main social account

That $300 VPN might have flagged your account for suspicious login patterns. Social platforms track IP addresses jumping across countries and can auto-lock you out for "unusual activity." I once got locked out just for logging in from my phone on a road trip. Their security systems are so aggressive they punish normal privacy steps. You might need to go through a lengthy verification process to prove you're really you.

Honestly I just keep my VPN set to one city and never have issues.

Actually VPNs don't usually cost $300, that's way too high. Most good ones are around $60 to $100 for a year. The price itself wouldn't flag an account, it's the constant location switching that does it.
