Customer told me my truing stand was way off after I did his wheel 3 times
Guy came back with a Park Tool gauge and showed me the rim was out by 1.5mm on the drive side, so now I check lateral runout with a caliper before touching the spokes.

Guy coming back with his own gauge after three attempts, that stings. Been there with a customer who proved my barrel adjuster was a few mm off.
People don't realize how easy it is for a stand to drift out over time, a little knock or just wear and it's done. Good on you for switching to the caliper check though, saves the headache next time.

Yeah I had to learn that one the hard way too. Now I just zero out my calipers on a known flat surface before every check, saves me from looking like a fool when someone brings out their own tools lol.
