I called my buddy crazy for swearing by that Park Tool gear cleaner
Last summer I finally tried the Park Tool CG-2.4 chain cleaner on a greasy commuter bike in Phoenix and it cut my cleaning time from 45 minutes down to maybe 12. Has anyone else had a cheap tool they ignored for years turn out to be worth every penny?

Man that CG-2.4 is no joke. I was the same way with a cheap little spoke wrench I bought for five bucks at a yard sale. Figured it would snap the first time I used it but that thing has trued more wheels than I can count and still holds tension like a champ. Anyway your post makes me wonder how many other garage finds are actually gold. I finally got around to using a rusty chain whip I found and it works better than the fancy one I paid thirty bucks for. Funny how the stuff we ignore ends up being the real workhorses.

Ain't it wild how the cheap stuff from garage sales ends up being the real workhorses? I grabbed a beat up old chain puller for two dollars at a flea market last year and figured it was just decoration, but it's held up through a dozen chain swaps without slipping once. @king.kevin you're right about this stuff being gold, makes you wonder how many other finds are just sitting there waiting to be put to work.
