Just hit 500 completed repairs in my home shop...

I've been working on bikes out of my garage for about 18 months now, mostly friends and family stuff. Last night I finished up a full hub overhaul on an old Trek 820 and realized it was number 500 according to my logbook. I started tracking just to see how much I was saving people vs shop prices, but honestly seeing that number made me feel like I actually know what I'm doing now. Has anyone else kept a running count of your builds or repairs and been surprised by the total?

Why keep count though? Does the number actually mean anything if some of those were just tightening a loose bolt or swapping a tube? I've seen garage mechanics inflate their numbers by counting tiny adjustments that barely count as repairs. Plus 500 in 18 months seems like a lot unless you're rushing through them. Quality over quantity man, a good overhaul on one bike beats slapping 10 quick fixes together any day.

Isn't it funny how a simple number can make all that time and effort feel real? I kept a similar log when I was learning to sew, and hitting a big milestone like that really put into perspective how much I'd improved without noticing it. It sounds like you've put in a lot of honest work, and that's something to be proud of.
