Just swapped a customer's old cantilevers for mini-V brakes on their 90s mountain bike.

The stopping power is night and day better, especially in the wet. What's your go-to brake upgrade for those old frames?

What's my go-to upgrade? Honestly, I'm still running cantilevers on my old beater because I'm too cheap to buy new brakes, lol. The stopping power is probably terrible but I've just gotten used to it. Maybe I should take my own advice for once.

My buddy did that same swap on his old Stumpjumper. He said it was like going from dragging his feet to having actual brakes.

Yeah, "dragging his feet" is the perfect way to put it. I rode cantis for years and convinced myself it was fine. Swapping to even basic V-brakes was a total game changer for control, especially when the trail got steep. It's one of those upgrades you don't realize you need until after you do it.
