Old timer told me to stop using WD-40 on chains, and he was right

I used to spray WD-40 on my chain thinking it was good lube. A retired mechanic at the co-op saw me do it and said 'you're just washing the grease out of the pins, kid.' He showed me the proper wet lube for rainy commutes and now my chain lasts like 3 times longer. Anyone else learn the hard way that WD-40 isn't a chain lube?

Wait, is using a wet lube really the kind of thing that changes your whole season? @stone.jesse I saw a buddy go through four different brands last year and still ended up blaming his chain for everything. I honestly think most people overthink this stuff, you could probably just grab whatever is on sale and be fine. Unless you're riding through mud every day, which I'm guessing you're not, it's not that big of a deal.
