Question about how you all handle those cheap plastic fenders
I used to spend an hour trying to bend and tweak them to stop rubbing, but after breaking three sets in a week at the shop, I just tell customers they're not worth the hassle. Anyone have a go-to brand that actually holds its shape, or do you just skip them now?

Cheap plastic fenders are the perfect example of a false economy. You see it with dollar store phone chargers that fry in a week and bargain bin tools that strip on the first bolt. Saving a few bucks upfront just means buying the same junk twice. It trains you to expect things to break, which is a pretty sad way to live.

Trains you to expect things to break" is the real kicker. It makes you feel smart for seeing the failure coming, but you're just getting good at being disappointed. What a miserable superpower.

Saw a bike mechanic online call them "disposable frustration." Why do companies even make stuff that's doomed from the start?
