Shelled out $80 for a fancy chain wear indicator and kinda regret it
I bought the Park Tool CC-3.2 chain checker last month because everyone online swears by it. But honestly, my old $12 ruler method gives me the same reading every time. Is the extra precision really worth it for a home mechanic like me?

Man, $80 could buy me like four fancy burrito bowls with guac, feelsbad. Bought the same CC-3.2 last month and now it's just a fancy paperweight next to my dusty torque wrench. My ruler method never failed me, but hey, at least now I can pretend I'm a YouTuber mechanic for 5 seconds before I hang it back up. Maybe I'll start using it as a stress ball for when I strip a bolt.

Bought one too thinking I'd finally feel like a pro mechanic. Now it just sits in my toolbox making me feel guilty about the $80 I could've spent on tacos. The ruler works fine for most of us who don't get paid to check chains.
