Shoutout to the guy at the shop who said he never uses grease on carbon seatposts
Heard him tell a customer at the shop in Boulder last week that carbon paste is the only thing that works, even on clean posts. I've been using a light grease for years and had three slip this month alone. What's your go-to for carbon seatpost installs?

Switched to carbon paste after a bad slip on a climb last year. That thing dropped a full inch mid-ride. Cleaned the post and frame with isopropyl, used a generous coat of the gritty stuff, and torqued it to spec. Hasn't moved a millimeter since, even in the wet. That shop guy knows his stuff.

What spec did you torque it to? My frame has a max of 5 Nm printed near the clamp. Always wondered if that's enough with paste. Used a bit less than you, maybe a thin smear. Had a tiny bit of creep on a long, hot ride last week. Might need to go heavier on the grit.

Buddy of mine did the exact same thing on a gravel event last summer. Dude had his post drop so bad he almost went over the bars on a descent. He started using the gritty paste and torquing to spec on his 5nm frame, hasn't had an issue since.
