Switched from a chain tool to a master link at the shop and I am not going back
Used to break and re-pin chains with a chain breaker every time, and half the time the pin went in crooked and the link clicked for the rest of its life. Last month I started just popping on a quick link for every 9, 10, and 11 speed job, and I have not had a single comeback in 40 plus bikes. Anyone else ditch the pin game completely or do you still break chains for certain setups?
Why put yourself through the pin game when the master link just works? I feel you on the crooked pin thing, that click for the rest of the chain's life is the worst sound in the shop. I've had the same run of luck since I switched, no comebacks, no fuss, just snap it on and go. Some folks still swear by re-pinning for certain setups but honestly I don't miss it one bit. Half my day used to be fighting with pins that went in sideways and chains I had to toss. You're not alone on this one.
