Finally finished that 12 hour documentary series I started in March

I was halfway through episode 6 of The Civil War by Ken Burns when my streaming app crashed and lost my spot. This was last Thursday night around 11pm, sitting in my living room with a cold cup of coffee. I had to scroll through the timeline looking for the exact moment where Grant starts talking about Vicksburg. Found it after 15 minutes of searching and finished the whole series by Saturday afternoon. Has anyone else had a streaming glitch that messed up a binge session?

Tbh I've noticed this whole thing is part of a bigger pattern where everything's just a little more fragile than it used to be. Like streaming glitches happen all the time now and it's not just you. The apps crash, the wifi drops, the buffering takes forever. You sit down for a relaxing evening and something technical gets in the way. It's like we traded physical media for convenience but lost reliability in the process. You never had to search for your spot on a DVD because it just stayed where you left it. Ngl this stuff makes me miss the days when watching a movie meant popping in a disc and not worrying about the whole thing breaking down.

The Buffalo section of that same documentary was where my player froze up, right as they were showing those old photographs of the grain elevators. I ended up taking a photo of the screen with my phone so I could match it to the timestamp later after I restarted the app. That trick saved me a lot of scrolling and honestly I just keep doing it now whenever something technical goes sideways.
