I finally binged the dubbed version of Dark and it made zero sense compared to the subtitles

After 17 episodes of watching the German dub with English subs, I rewatched the first season in the original voice track last weekend and realized I missed half the emotional tone because the dub actors all sound like they're reading a phone book, has anyone else noticed dubs ruin suspense shows or am I just being picky?

Bingeing dubbed Dark is a whole different kind of pain, I get it. The voice actors sound like they're narrating a nature documentary, all flat and calm, while the actual characters are falling apart. You really do miss the dread and panic that the original track carries, so you're not being picky at all. I did the same thing with a different show and it honestly felt like watching a new series the second time around.
