I finally watched both seasons of 'Severance' back-to-back versus weekly when it aired
Binging it over a weekend made the creepy, puzzle-box story feel way more intense and connected (and honestly, I stopped getting confused about which 'innie' was which). Anyone else have a show that got way better when you watched it all at once?

I read an interview with a showrunner who said they now write for the "pause button," not the commercial break. They know people will rewind to catch a clue they missed five minutes ago, not five weeks ago. That totally changes how they hide details in the background of a scene. It makes those dense, layered shows like Dark or Severance feel more like a long movie you unpack, instead of a weekly puzzle you forget.

Oh man, that's so true... I've found this happens with a lot of mystery shows now. Watching week to week, I totally forget small clues or side characters, and the whole vibe just fades. But binging it, you live in that weird world and all the pieces click together. It makes me wonder if some shows are just meant to be consumed all in one go.

You know, @blakeharris, I was just rewatching the first season of Dark, and it's a perfect example. Trying to follow those family trees and time jumps with a week between episodes was impossible. The show almost demands you binge it to keep the details straight. I wonder if writers are now crafting stories specifically for streaming, where they know most people will watch it all at once. That changes how they plant clues and build tension, because they don't have to remind you what happened last month. It feels like a totally different kind of storytelling.
