My brother said to skip the first season of 'The Expanse' and just read a recap. He was completely wrong.
He said it was 'too slow' and the worldbuilding was confusing. I watched it anyway and the slow burn is the whole point. Those first ten episodes set up everything. The politics on Earth, the Belters, the mystery on the OPA freighter. If you just jump to season two, you miss the foundation that makes the payoff work. Now he's trying to get me to skip the first book too. Not happening. Anyone else have a show where someone gave you terrible skipping advice?

Told my friend to skip the filler episodes in early Naruto. He listened to me and was totally lost when the big fights and character backstories happened later on. I still feel bad about that garbage advice, because you need all that setup to care about anyone.

Classic case of skipping the boring parts only to miss why you should care later, @emeryfox. You basically told him to skip the tutorial and then wondered why he didn't know how to play the game. Those slow episodes are what make the big moments actually hit hard. Your friend must have been so confused when suddenly people were crying over a guy who just liked to paint. Filler is one thing, but setup is everything else.
