My friend in Denver made me watch the whole first season of 'Slow Horses' and I'm so glad he did
We were just hanging out at his place last month, and he put on the first episode. I almost turned it off after twenty minutes because it felt kind of slow and weird. He just looked at me and said, 'Trust me, give it three episodes. The whole thing is a setup.' I listened, and by the end of episode three, I was totally hooked. The way they build the story and the characters is so smart, and all that early stuff pays off in a huge way. We ended up watching the whole first season in one weekend. It completely changed how I judge a new show now. Has anyone else had a show that started slow but became a must-watch?

Give a show the three episode rule before you bail. The pilot is often a mess and the story needs time to find its feet. I almost ditched The Americans but it became one of my all time favorites.

Three episodes feels generous for some shows... I gave The Bear two and a half before I was completely hooked. What's the longest you've stuck with a show that still didn't click for you?

Honestly I watched a whole season of something once and still felt nothing. Some shows just aren't for you.
