My sister said she watches shows at 1.5x speed to 'get through the filler'

She tried it with the new season of 'Shining Girls' and said it made the slow parts bearable. Has anyone else tried speeding up a drama, or does that ruin the whole vibe?

Honestly, that sounds awful to me... like you're just trying to finish a chore. The whole point of a slow burn is the mood it builds. Speeding through a show like that just kills the tension, you miss all the little details. I tried it once and it felt like I was watching a recap, not the actual story. Some shows are meant to be a slow soak, not a quick rinse.

Spot this everywhere with people rushing through books or meals too. It feels like we're scared to just sit with something and let it build. Makes me wonder what we're all running from.

Set a timer for 10 minutes per episode and force yourself to pause and write down one thing you noticed before moving on. @wesley83 is right about missing details, but that trick helped me stop treating shows like a checklist. Once you slow down on purpose it stops feeling like a rush and starts feeling like actual watching.
