Saw the actor count on Wikipedia for Game of Thrones season 8
I always hated how rushed season 8 felt. Thought it was just bad writing. Then I checked the episode counts on Wikipedia. Season 1 had 10 episodes. Season 8 only had 6. They crammed the same amount of story into way less time. No wonder everything felt jammed together. Anyone else check the episode counts on their favorite shows after seeing that?

Watched that whole season with my jaw on the floor thinking "how did they mess this up so bad?" Then I realized I spend more time deciding what to eat for dinner than they did writing those last few episodes.

Hold on, hold on. I am seeing a lot of hate for that season but I actually think it was one of the most ambitious things on TV in years. Those last few episodes gave us a completely new villain out of nowhere which kept me guessing instead of just checking out. And the whole plot about the main character suddenly forgetting how their powers worked for two episodes was a brave character choice that shows real depth. Sometimes you have to respect a show for trying something wild instead of giving us the same safe ending everybody expected. At least it was memorable, way more than the boring by the numbers finales we usually get.

@lee_bailey65 you nailed it with that "deciding what to eat" comparison. The dinner debate at least involves real stakes like hunger and regret. Their writing sessions probably looked like someone throwing darts at a board of plot twists blindfolded. I'm convinced the last few episodes were written on a napkin during a coffee break.
