Showerthought: I used to watch shows in release order, but now I start with the best season.
For years I'd start a show at season one, even if people said it got good later, like with 'Parks and Rec'. Last month I skipped to season three of a show my friend recommended, and I was hooked right away. Does anyone else jump around seasons to get into a show faster?

Totally agree with @williams.gray, sometimes you just gotta skip the rough parts.

Honestly that reminds me of trying to get my dad into The Office. He just could not get past the first season, it was too cringe for him. So I finally just told him to skip to season two, maybe even three, and just read a plot summary online. He ended up loving it, but he still refuses to watch those early episodes. Sometimes you gotta meet people where they are, even if it means breaking the rules.

My friend tried that with Parks and Rec, skipping straight to season three. It worked, but now she has no idea why @noahjenkins hates Mark Brendanawicz. The real risk is losing those inside jokes that make the later seasons land.
