That one guy at my coffee shop got me hooked on a show I ignored for 3 years

I was sitting at my usual spot at the Daily Grind last Tuesday, scrolling through Netflix for like 20 minutes. A regular I only know as "Dave in the beanie" leans over and says "you have got to stop sleeping on Peaky Blinders, I promise episode 3 changes everything." I laughed it off but gave it a shot that night. Now I'm 4 seasons in and I literally canceled plans last Friday just to finish season 2. Has anyone else had a stranger randomly recommend something that turned into your whole month?

oh man you've been Peaky Blinded. that happens to everyone who caves and watches it, once you're in you're in for good. i did the same thing with Dark on Netflix, a bartender told me to watch it and i spent the next two weeks completely useless to society.

Haha right? It's wild how one show can just take over your whole brain like that. I swear it's like a modern day curse or something. You think you'll just watch one episode to see what the hype is about and then bam, you're three seasons deep at 3am on a Tuesday. It makes me think about how we all have that one thing that just completely derails us for a bit. Like a friend of mine got really into baking bread during the pandemic and I swear she didn't talk about anything else for months. It's like our brains need that total immersion sometimes, you know? Just a full-on obsession that makes everything else stop mattering for a while.
