The 3 AM panic behind my Breaking Bad rewatch
I was up late last Tuesday around 3 AM, couldn't sleep because of some work stress from my route. I was scrolling through streaming services for the hundredth time, nothing was hitting. Then I just clicked on Breaking Bad episode one, even though I've seen it through maybe 4 times already. Something clicked different this time, I was catching details in the first season I completely missed before. Like the way Walt's lies start so small and innocent, I never noticed how early the cracks showed. By 6 AM I was 8 episodes deep and late for my shift, no regrets though. Has anyone else had a rewatch where a show felt like a completely different story?

Gotta be honest, rewatching Breaking Bad just makes me appreciate Gus more and like Walt less every time. The show is really about a weak man who gets drunk on power, not some tragic hero story people make it out to be. Walt's lies aren't small and innocent, they're calculated from day one when he starts cooking meth instead of accepting help from his wealthy friends. Every rewatch peels back another layer of manipulation and selfishness that was hiding behind his cancer diagnosis the whole time. It's like the show is designed to trick you into rooting for him on first watch, then punish you for it later.

Drove right past my own exit last night because I was too busy analyzing how Skyler's facial expressions in season 2 hint at her knowing more than she lets on, and now I'm worried I missed something crucial about my own life choices. @sage_morgan75 is onto something about Walt's calculated moves from the start, but I still think the show hits harder when you realize how many of his decisions are just him trying to prove he's not the loser everyone already assumed he was. Maybe that's why I keep coming back to it, because every rewatch just makes me question my own judgment about who I'm supposed to root for.
