Why does nobody admit The Office gets worse after Steve Carell leaves
I rewatched the whole series last month and I tracked every episode on a notepad, which was a dumb idea at the time but now I have proof. Seasons 1 through 7 average about 4 laughs per episode for me, and seasons 8 and 9 drop to maybe 1. That is not a small dip, that is a whole different show wearing the same name. People keep saying Robert California saved it, but if that were true I would not be checking my phone during every episode he is in. I get that nobody wants to say a comfort show fell off, but pretending those last two seasons hold up does not help anyone looking for something to binge. Does anyone actually rewatch seasons 8 and 9 on purpose, or do we all just push through to get to the finale?
I tracked laughs too and got way different numbers, but okay. Does a comedy really need to stay the same show forever, or is it allowed to change and still be watchable?
