Can we talk about quenching in canola oil versus motor oil... I tried both on a leaf spring knife and the canola one came out way softer.

Tried canola once and the blade didn't harden properly for me either.

What's the deal with canola oil for hardening? I've heard a few people say it doesn't get the job done right. Seems like it's just not consistent enough.
