Found a 'medieval' axe at a yard sale in Akron that was clearly a cheap cast piece

I was driving around last Saturday and saw a yard sale with a bunch of old tools. They had this axe labeled as a 'hand forged medieval replica' for $75. I picked it up and the balance was way off, plus the eye was perfectly round with zero hammer marks. I told the guy it was a cheap casting and he got real mad, said his uncle brought it back from a 'ren fair in Florida'. Has anyone else run into stuff like this being passed off as real work?

Yeah, that ren fair story is wild, but I've had luck politely showing them the casting seam and it settles things fast.

Oh man, I once paid way too much for a "viking" knife that turned out to be a re-ground steak knife. The guy swore it was real bone on the handle, but it was just plastic.

Scammers get so creative with their lies. What did the seller say when you called them out?
