Showerthought: a farrier at the Elmira horse sale said most beginner tongs fail at the rivet, not the jaw
I was standing near the pen watching him trim hooves and he said it plain as day. Went home and checked my first pair of flat tongs from 2019 and sure enough, the rivet hole was wallowed out and the jaws were fine. Feels good knowing it wasn't my riveting that failed, just cheap stock. What are you all running for rivets, store bought or do you peen your own?
