The before and after on my forge welding after switching to borax flux...
Used to fight with everything sticking wrong or falling apart, took me about 6 weeks of frustration until I finally swapped from sand to borax last month. Now my welds actually hold and I'm not cursing at the anvil every 5 minutes - anyone else have a weirdly simple fix that changed their forging game?

I always thought sand was the better way until I finally tried borax and now I get it.

The borax really does change the game though, right? Like were you using the fine grain sand or the coarser stuff before you switched? I find people get way different results depending on which sand they grab and it makes the comparison feel unfair sometimes. What kind of project were you working on where you finally made the switch?
