Took me 5 hours to set one rivet because my forge was running cold
Last month I spent an entire afternoon trying to set a single rivet on a gate hinge, and it kept mushrooming crooked no matter how many times I reheated it. Turned out my forge was only hitting around 1,600 degrees instead of the 2,000 I needed, so the steel was too stiff and I was basically hammering cold metal for hours. Has anyone else chased a problem like that only to find the real issue was a clogged burner tip the whole time?
