Watching a guy at the Ren Faire in Maryland just hammer a leaf shape freehand changed how I see my own work.

I was always so stuck on my jigs and templates, but seeing him just go for it with a 2-pound hammer and a piece of scrap made me realize I was overthinking every single decorative piece, so now I set aside 30 minutes every Friday to just mess around with no plan.

Yeah it's a game changer for sure, my freeform time mostly just proves I need more practice.
