Appreciation post: That awkward moment at a Portland convention changed my whole game group.
We were demoing a heavy euro and a total stranger just sat down and explained a key rule we'd all missed. For three years. Now we always ask for a quick teach from staff first. Anyone else have a public place rule correction that stuck with you?

Wait, is getting a rule wrong for that long actually a big deal? If you're all having fun, does it even matter? My old group messed up a card game for ages and we still had a blast. Sometimes the "wrong" way is more fun for your specific friends.

Right there with you... we played Uno completely wrong for like two years and it was way more chaotic and fun that way. Sometimes the rulebook just gets in the way of a good time.
