Honestly, at a game night in Austin I saw someone use a $3 tackle box for their Catan pieces and it blew my mind.

Oh man, that's an interesting take actually. But if the tackle box is slowing you down, is it really the right tackle box or maybe you just need to figure out a better way to set it up beforehand? I've seen people use those super tiny ones where each compartment is basically a thimble and you're digging for pieces forever, versus the bigger ones where you can actually grab a handful of resources without fishing around. Like, did you try the kind with the removable trays or just one solid block of compartments? Because I feel like that makes a huge difference for speed.

Grab a cheap fishing tackle box from Walmart, the plastic ones with all the little compartments. Separate your wood and brick pieces into different sections, keep the cards in the bigger slots. It stops everything from spilling when someone bumps the table and you can just pass the whole box around. I started doing this after my friend's kid mixed all the settlements and cities together one game.

My group tried a tackle box like @robin489 suggested and it just slowed setup down. I keep everything in separate Crown Royal bags, way faster to just dump each resource out.
