Just realized I was shuffling board game cards totally backward for 2 years

I always shuffled by splitting the deck and riffling from the top, but last week a friend pointed out I was actually just stacking the same order back together. Turns out you need to interleave the sides properly, not just mash them. Anyone else discover a basic game rule they got wrong for way too long?

Wait, are you sure that's not how shuffling is supposed to work? Because I've been doing the same thing for years and nobody has ever said anything to me about it. I always thought you just split the deck and push the two halves together, like how you'd stack two piles of papers. Now I'm wondering if I've been playing every card game wrong this whole time. My wife is probably going to laugh at me when I tell her this.

Wait, you've never seen someone do a proper riffle shuffle? That's wild. I've been playing cards since I was a kid and everyone I know does the bridge thing where you let the cards fall together one by one. You're gonna blow your wife's mind when she finds out you've been basically just mashing the deck together.
