My collection hit 200 games and I realized I've only played half of them
I was updating my BGG list last night and the total surprised me. It matters because it shows how much of this hobby for me is about the idea of playing, not just the actual playtime. Anyone else have a shelf of shame that's bigger than they'd like to admit?

Honestly, it's just a bunch of board games. They're not going bad on the shelf. Tbh I buy some because the art is cool or the idea sounds fun, and that's enough for me sometimes. It's a hobby, not a homework assignment you're failing.

Ever tried a no-buy month just for games?

And honestly, that's such a good point because half the battle with hobbies is just letting yourself enjoy them without pressure. I've got a shelf of games I bought for the miniatures alone, never even punched out the tokens. Your mileage may vary, but for me, the anticipation of playing something new is half the fun, even if it sits for a year. Plus, with how often games go out of print, grabbing something while you can is just smart in its own weird way. So yeah, collecting is a totally valid part of the hobby, no shame in that.
