My game group's snack rule used to be 'bring whatever' and it was a mess of greasy fingers and stained cards.

We had a big fight after someone's cheesy puff dust ruined a $80 copy of Twilight Imperium, so now we have a strict 'dry snacks only' list and use communal chopsticks for shared bowls. Has your group ever made a weird rule because of one bad snack accident?

Honestly, I used to roll my eyes at strict snack rules. Thought it was overkill. Then a friend spilled a full can of cola on my player board during a game of Scythe. The red dye from the soda permanently stained the victory track, and the cardboard warped. Now I'm the guy handing out coasters and insisting all drinks have lids. That one sticky mess turned me into a believer.

Wait, the red dye stained the board? That's wild, I didn't even think about the color in soda doing that.

Yeah, the staining is from the caramel color, not the red dye. That stuff is in almost every dark soda, like cola and root beer. It's basically concentrated food coloring and it sticks to everything. I had a bottle of Dr Pepper tip over and it left a brown ring on a white tablecloth that never came out.
