One comment about my dice tower pacing changed how I run every game

I run a weekly game night at my place in Austin. About 2 months ago one player said my turns were dragging because I kept pausing to explain every rule mid-game. She said, 'just let us mess up and fix it after.' I stopped over-teaching and now we get through 3 rounds instead of 2 each night. The group seems way more into it. Has anyone else had a player call out a habit that you didn't even realize you had?
