The great Catan strategy debate with my group still isn't settled
I tried playing super aggressive last game and took over a key port early, but I ended up trading my way into last place because everyone refused to deal with me after that. My friend who plays nice and goes for longest road every time won by a mile. Does playing friendly really beat out early game dominance in a 4-player setup, or was it just bad luck with the dice?

Man, I've been there... tried the whole knight rush strategy once and nobody would trade with me for like an hour. I've had way more luck just being chill and building roads early, then swooping in for longest road when nobody's looking.

Did you ever try the sheep port strategy? I remember one game where I traded my way into like ten sheep just through a single port and three settlements. Nobody noticed until I started buying development cards every turn. Felt like pulling a fast one on the whole table.
